While I wait for some of the hardware to arrive for the wheels, bogies, and train, I have begun modelling the chassis that will be the base for the rest of the train.
The chassis took a while to design, not due to design ability, but to the creative choices that had to be made at the same time. The chassis is the basis of everything from type of coaster, the shape of the train, how many people can ride, and how well the train moves along the track. Because of all these factors, it took me a while to decide to even begin the model.
In the end, I decided to go with more of an "Intamin Blitz Model" type look with 4 people per train, a flat and solid floor, and an axle between bogies that causes them to rotate on the yaw axis together rather than individually.
I also began to design the seats based on the mannequin model that I was able to find online. I required multiple attempts to create the seats because I had never designed many organic shapes before, but after about 5 tries, I was happy with the simple design and I thought it fit very well
Unfortunately, I must wait for hardware to arrive first before testing any parts for tolerance or functionality. The hardware that I am waiting on is 3mm bearings for the yaw axle and the universal joint couplers that you can see a placeholder for between each car.
